Designed by Anne-Claire Petre, Anaca Studio’s Sedis Seating Collection is subtle, versatile and sophisticated. The range is proudly designed and manufactured in Melbourne, with environmental awareness and sustainability principles at the heart of every decision.
The range balances sculptural curves with strong, minimalist lines informed by Art Deco period architecture. SEDIS has been designed to subtly elevate any space in either commercial or residential environments.
Sedis’s simple design offers modest proportions and comfort, blending versatility with a sophisticated, timeless aesthetic.
The concept and early prototypes were presented to Stylecraft Furniture, who are leaders in the residential and commercial market. Stylecraft recognised the originality of the collection and its broad commercial appeal and released the collection as part of their range.
I recognised the importance and the impact of good design within work spaces. In response to a demand in the market, I created a product that would be inspiring and aesthetically pleasing to bring into these environments.
I launched Sedis during Denfair 2019 and the collection has received substantial exposure in major design publications. Its appeal and design integrity has created strong interest within the interior design and architectural firms with large orders for both commercial & residential customers already in production. This early success has led to the collection being further expanded with new finishes and potential for an outdoor range.
Taking inspiration from the Art Deco era, I developed the design to suit a more contemporary and minimalist aesthetic through the use of modern manufacturing methods, materials and finishes.
I aimed to create a classic design that would elevate any space without being overly dominant. The collection is elegant and lends itself to any residential or commercial projects. This cross-over application is one that I often consider when designing new products. Versatility is always an important part of the brief.
A stainless steel foot rail has been integrated to the frame to avoid damage to the powdercoat finish therefore increasing durability and reducing potential damage to the paint. The stainless rod is welded directly onto the frame to create a completely seamless finish.
The range offers six size variations, from low stool to chair, to low and high barstools with or without backs.
The collection was released in five different colours which tonally reference both the Australian landscape and are reminiscent of my European summers in the south of France or regions of Italy.
Architects and interior designers are welcome to select their own finishes to suit their unique projects. With a wide array of powdercoat finishes and unlimited fabrics and leathers available, this makes the collection incredibly versatile and able to be integrated to any interiors.
