The Scaling Frontier Innovation program supports social enterprises in the Indo-Pacific region. The program works with key donors and Australian Aid towards the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals, co-designing unique ways to provide international aid. The program is committed to breaking down gender norms and empowering female entrepreneurs to scale.

The program houses several key initiatives. Each program had it’s own website, sometimes several landing pages and it’s own disparate brand identity. Our brief was to create one consolidated brand system and digital platform to house all initiatives, showcasing innovation and entrepreneurship and showcase the breaking down of gender norms.

Key Features


During the first strategy sprint we mapped each initiative’s key user journeys and designed a brand architecture accordingly. At DFAT in Canberra we ran a user experience workshop with the innovation team to create user maps and personas for each initiative, ensuring we understood the overlaps of these complex start-up ecosystems.

After analysing the content architecture and wireframing collectively we redesigned the Scaling Frontier Innovators website, replacing six separate landing pages. From a user reach perspective we found consolidation would improve the initiatives overall search engine ranking making it easier to be found by global audiences on an ongoing basis.


Since the new program website launched incorporating all SFI initiatives under one roof, has grown organically as a digital asset:
• 100% increase in organic search traffic in Australia and a 143% increase in the USA
• Organically indexed for high-value keywords such as ‘female incubators’ and ‘entrepreneurship
business documentaries’
• Average time on site is 4 minutes highlighting an engaged user base


42% increase in global searches for ‘impact investment’ in 2019 compared to the previous years. Global ecosystems are searching for information and knowledge products.

Provides start-up ecosystems in Asia Pacific with global best practice learnings and resources. It showcases social enterprises as they scale their development impact in the Asia-Pacific region.


The new website and initiative branding offers opportunities for SFI and it’s partners to connect with audiences across Asia Pacific and help achieve ongoing objectives through digital outreach.
