Creative Women’s Circle, a national association designed to support, champion and connect women working in creative industries, prepared a special event series as part of Melbourne Design Week. This limited edition poster series was designed by Edison designers and digitally printed as part of the promotional campaign for the Melbourne Design Week tour. “Sometimes finding the confidence in yourself to take the next step is daunting.” Debbie Millman’s message champions the idea of shaping your own definition of success through focussing on courage rather than confidence.

The hand crafted illustrations paid homage to Debbie’s tactile and textural aesthetic sensibility and honours her vibrancy and tenacity through colour, bold graphic shapes and gestural aesthetic.

In early 2020, Creative Women’s Circle, a national association designed to support, champion and connect women working in creative industries, were due to present a special event series as part of Melbourne Design Week with sponsors Driven X Design and Swinburne University of Technology.

Presented by Creative Women’s Circle, this limited edition poster series and assets was designed by two of our talented Edison Agency designers and digitally printed as part of the promotional campaign for the 2020 Melbourne Design Week tour, which unfortunately was cancelled due to COVID-19.

“Sometimes finding the confidence in yourself to take the next step is daunting.” Debbie Millman’s message champions the idea of shaping your own definition of success through focussing on courage rather than confidence.

As a sell-out tour, these assets were used to create momentos for all those who attended with the A2 posters designed to be sold at her NGV book signing. All donations made were to raise much needed funds to continue to support CWC members and the broader community.

The Edison Agency’s Founder, Amber Bonney is the current President of Creative Women’s Circle and was therefore able to utilise the businesses design resources to create original content pro bono. These limited edition poster series and assets were designed, hand illustrated and digitally printed as part of the promotional campaign for the 2020 Melbourne Design Week tour. The idea was inspired by attributes that have become synonymous with Debbie Millman, her design aesthetic, her famous black boots and iconic glasses.
