Description

During lockdown 1 during Covid times the studio wanted to create work to promote solidarity in challenging times. Across the city during Covid lockdown 1, those typical sites, the free poster press, that herald the richness of local culture, suddenly were bare. In times of dramatic change, how can the humble poster contribute to the conversation of change?

Key Features

1

For Slanted Magazine in Germany, the studio developed a series of posters responding to the idea of Coexist. We approached Plakkit a local street poster company and donated our posters to fill empty poster sites across over 200 sites in Melbourne, to spread a message of artful goodwill, during the first lockdown. Across March to June 2020, our poster series lived on the streets where it was not business as usual.

Melbourne in Lockdown had a city on its knees, a one vibrant city shutdown, this project was a self-initiated gesture to bring creativity to a city in dramatic flux.

4

Our innovation was simply to respond to a streetscape empty of its cultural posters with a posters series exploring coexist.
