2019 MQFF Program and Collateral Design




Melbourne Queer Film Festival showcases queer cinema from not only Australia but also around the world. In its 29th year they approached us to work on a new design for the 2019 festival.

This involved a new look and feel for the festival that included a cover design for the program guide and internal layouts and all other printed and digital related collateral, including, posters, postcards, flyers, volunteer ID cards, tickets and volunteer t-shirts, online and social media banners and tiles and the skinning of the ticketing app and in-theatre poster screens.

Key Features


We were asked to design a refreshed look that represented not only a film festival but also the diverse audience of film goers to the festival.

The aim was to increase interest in the festival, with the hope of increasing ticket sales.

The bold colour palette and subtle use of the rainbow page edges makes the program visually appealing to the existing LGBT+ audience while also making it accessible to a wider audience.


The new look of the guide and design consistency across the festival was very well received by the MQFF board and festival goers alike.

The festival audience had a massive increase which is evident in the increase in ticket sales to Melbourne Queer Film Festival screenings.


Due to the success of the look and feel of the 2019 Melbourne Queer Film Festival program guide, we were engaged to create a variation of the guide. A condensed guide for a smaller festival called MQFF eXtra.
