MESSAGE FROM MINISTER FOR CREATIVE INDUSTRIES
There is good design and bad design, but there is never no design.
Design isn’t just about aesthetics. Design is a critical part of innovation and success in all industries – and can be used to improve all aspects of people’s lives.
The contribution design makes to our community and economy is reflected in our $115 million Creative State strategy, which is raising Victoria’s design profile and building export capability.
The Victorian Premier’s Design Awards celebrate the Victorian designers and businesses that use exceptional and transformative design to create better products, services and experiences.
A record number of projects were entered in this year’s awards, which is a measure of the robust health of Victoria’s design industry. Among the 77 finalists there are several world firsts – such as the modular hearing aid, a new explosive detection device and tech socks for assisting with remote medical assessments.
Congratulations to all of this year’s winners and finalists on their outstanding work and for the role they play in making Victoria the Creative State.
