Nominations sought for 2013 Premier’s Design Awards
Apply now to be recognised and rewarded within Victoria for outstanding design.
Premier of Victoria Denis Napthine has announced the call for nominations for the prestigious Premier’s Design Awards which recognise and reward exemplary Victorian businesses using effective and sustainable design.
Dr Napthine said nominations were sought from Victoria’s most innovative design talent as part of the annual Premier’s Design Awards which recognised both the designer and the commissioning client for excellence in design and the effective use of the design.
“The Premier’s Design Awards highlight the contribution of Victorian design to business success through increased market share, financial sustainability, and environmental and social outcomes,” Dr Napthine said.
“Through the awards program, we are also assisting businesses and the community to better understand the value of integrating design to improve products and services.
“The Awards emphasise business performance and productivity improvements through the practical application of design.”
In 2013, six categories have been introduced that entrants can nominate for, including:
– architectural design
– service design;
– industrial and product design
– communication design
– digital design
– design strategy.
The Premier’s Design Awards are judged by experts from a broad range of design disciplines from across Australia and the rest of the world.
The judging panel will once again be chaired by leading Victorian designer, Ken Cato.
Dr Napthine said good design was a strategic business capability that enabled innovation and was an important foundation for Victorian firms and communities to grow both locally and globally.
“Good design links ideas and creativity to a market, shaping them to become practical and attractive propositions for customers and users,” Dr Napthine said.
Nominations for the Premier’s Design Awards are open and close on 20 August 2013. Both designers and users of design can nominate leading design projects to ensure a wide range of applications is received.
