Description

The design brief was to provide a new cafe experience to an existing successful ground floor cafe and restaurant. Maintaining a strong sense of family, commitment to service and food while offering a new dining experience by means of designing that embodies warmth, texture and detail.
Building above the existing restaurant was one of the main challenges as the business is operating seven days a week. Also to incorporate seating inside and outside, a bar uniting the internal and external areas, kitchen facilities and offices in a very large space but independently maintain a sense of intimacy, structure and workability.

The selection of materials was as carefully considered as Vanilla’s philosophy towards food.
Vanilla produce an artisan selection of cakes and desserts and the fitout reflects the honesty and commitment of their craft.

The walls are finished in a bespoke oak panelling, bespoke brass light fittings are used throughout. The bar is clad in patina bronze, reflective brass light discs float over the main seating area.
The wall panelling provides texture and warmth and adds a curtain effect of timber. The profile was custom designed. The profile was designed by replicating the shape of the lounge area on floor plan.
