- Lucy Fry
I touched on the misogynistic tones of the book ‘The Odyssey’ and represented this by using a shape that subtly resembles the female genitalia. The ripped layers of paper resemble not only a woman’s anatomy, but also visually represent the story’s layers, and the generations that have passed this tale down. The ripped paper creates a raw texture that I feel expresses the book’s tale of turmoil and strength. I created the cover using a pallet of flat, bright colours mixed with subtle tones to offset the intensity.
The book features a three dimensional cover crafted from paper that attracts attention.
The book has been hand stitched using the case binding method.
