ATEM 1 M/E Advanced Panel
- Blackmagic Design
The ATEM 1 M/E Advanced Panel is an innovative, ultra-compact live production control panel. Designed specifically for live multi-camera sporting events, concerts and TV broadcasts, it pairs portability with the speed and reliability of physical control, allowing independent producers to leverage broadcast quality, real-time switching technology.
At just $2995, ATEM 1 M/E is an affordable, empathetic solution for high pressure live production scenarios demanding long hours of concentration, and an ability to react instinctively to unexpected events and changing conditions. Its compact, durable CNC machined aluminium design presents a clear, ordered workspace, with an ergonomic layout of physical controls placing critical functionality at user’s fingertips. This eliminates time-consuming navigation of complex GUIs for reliable, real-time control over transitions, digital video effects and up to 20 inputs. Bespoke switcher buttons have smooth, scalloped caps to reduce distracting reflections and offer positive tactile engagement for error-free blind operation.
The prohibitive cost of many switcher control panels, many over $10,000, precludes all but the most well-resourced studios and television networks from producing truly professional live broadcasts. Inexpensive software-based alternatives are complex and slow to navigate; in fast-paced, unpredictable live situations, such inefficiency could be the difference between a compelling broadcast and a failure.
The highly portable ATEM 1 M/E Advanced Panel democratises broadcast-quality switcher control, offering direct, responsive control through an intuitive physical interface. No longer required to compromise creativity, performance or efficiency, individuals, institutions and even novice users are empowered to explore new, innovative approaches to live broadcasting.
An integral tool in the professional workflows of Al Jazeera, NTT and Manchester City FC, the ATEM 1 M/E Advanced Panel is an empathetic response to demanding live broadcast workflows demanding long hours of concentration.
During intense live broadcasts operators must remain focused on multiple feeds simultaneously, continually responding to instructions from demanding producers. Pared back to its essential elements, the control surface is deliberately minimal: a rational, distraction-free workspace. Angled at 5°, its generous front landing provides a natural working posture, putting critical program controls at the user’s fingertips for responsive, intuitive access.
The control layout is organised into logical work zones reflecting each aspect of the live production workflow. Dynamic, customisable switcher button LCDs are integrated seamlessly into the control surface, changing colour to indicate status, while a 5” rear LCD, angled for optimal clarity, allows access to deeper functions and diagnostics. Elegantly detailed, the CNC machined T-bar fader and professional joystick provide refined control over transitions and other digital video effects.
Failsafe reliability in challenging locations and hectic studios is critical when broadcasting live. The CNC machined aluminium chassis facilitates exceptional structural integrity and accuracy for consistent location of controls.
