International Judging Panel announced for 2013 Premier’s Design Awards
Good Design Australia is pleased to announce a panel of nine Australian and international design experts to judge this year’s Premier’s Design Awards. The panel will be chaired by leading Victorian designer, Ken Cato AO, and includes Australian designers and international experts from the UK, Mexico, Taiwan and the USA.
“The Premier’s Design Awards aim to recognise and reward world class Victorian design talent. It is an honour to have internationally-recognised design leaders from both Australia and overseas sit on the panel,” said Dr. Brandon Gien, the CEO of Good Design Australia – the organisation responsible for running the Premier’s Design Awards on behalf of the Victorian Government.
“The Premier’s Design Awards place significant emphasis on the use of design as a strategic business tool and recognise those innovative and superior designers and businesses that value the role of design thinking in the development of their products and services,” said Dr. Gien.
“These Awards highlight the contribution Victorian design companies make in driving business success and competitiveness in Victoria and throughout the world. A high calibre judging panel is critical to ensure we maintain the credibility and prestige of these important Awards,” Dr. Gien went on to say.
The panel includes big names such as Mauro Porcini, the Chief Design Officer at PepsiCo and John Barratt, the President and CEO of TEAGUE, one of the oldest and most respected design consultancies in the world with clients including Boeing, Hewlett-Packard, Nike, Starbucks, LG and B/E Aerospace.
In 2013, the Premier’s Design Awards is accepting entries across six categories: Architectural Design, Communication Design, Service Design, Digital Design, Industrial and Product Design, and Design Strategy. Judges will assess entries on four key criteria – design excellence, design impact, design transformation and design innovation.
To be eligible to enter, the client (commissioning organisation or user) may be local, national or international but the primary designer(s) must be Victorian.
The Premier’s Design Awards entries close on 20 August 2013.
Entry is free and can be completed online at: www.premiersdesignawards.org.au
Winners will be announced at the Premier’s Design Awards Presentation Ceremony in October 2013.
